UK Schools' Chess Challenge - Final Standings

Chelmsford Junior Chess Club has now completed the UK Schools’ Chess Challenge. All our players had the chance to play 7 rounds and compete for a place in the Essex Megafinal on 14th May.
Below are the final standings so congratulations to our qualifiers and overall winner Ben Pickwick. Last year Olga and Toby went all the way to the National Terafinal and it would be great if someone could match that achievement this year.

The club will meet back on Tuesday 18th April with the older players.

CJCC Success at 3rd H+H Fire Brentwood Train and Play

Last Sunday was the latest H+H Fire Train and Play event in Brentwood. It was great to have Alexander, Alex, Tommy, Sophie, Nikita, Anna, Jake, Adam and Alice along from CJCC for a mixture of coaching sessions and a team competition.

IM Andrew Greet was our guest coach for the day alongside IM Richard Pert and myself. CJCC parent and two-time Essex Champion Russell White also stepped in to help with the coaching alongside managing Team Fischer.

Well done to Jake and Anna for winning all 3 of their games. Alice was part of the winning (all girl) Team Polgar.

Alex Carter was CJCC UK Chess Challenge runner-up. Here he is pictured with IMs Richard Pert and Andrew Greet and myself after receiving a chess book and medal.

Winning Team Polgar with carefully selected Easter Egg prizes.

Anna dead centre and Jake second from left among the players who scored 3/3.

Action from Round 2 in the team competition.

Abigail vs Rowan on top board of the Team Polgar vs Team Fischer match.
