Colchester and Chelmsford junior tournaments

It was great to see so many from CJCC playing in Colchester on 24th September. You'll see Nithilan, Jeremy and Joshua K among the winners.

It was especially nice to see players in their first tournament having such fun (including 5 year old Jacob who will get a special medal for taking part).

The next Essex Junior Chess Association tournament will be on Sunday 23rd October at Moulsham Junior School in Chelmsford. Oli, another player making their tournament debut, was excited to learn his school would be hosts.

Don't forget to check out this "live" document link for all upcoming chess. Loads on this week!

CJCC at Brentwood's FIDE August Bank Holiday tournament

I was involved with organising a 3-day FIDE (internationally-rated) tournament at Brentwood School over August Bank Holiday for adults and juniors with a FIDE standard play rating of 1500+.

Alongside this, we ran a 1-day rapid play tournament for adults and juniors split into two sections on rating - one open to all, one for players unrated or below 1300 ECF.

It was great to see CJCC juniors stepping up to take part and even better to see them among the prizes.

Dylan got a special prize for the great spirit he played the day in.

The next tournament in Essex will be just for juniors at Colchester on 24th September.

It is the first of a series of junior tournaments this academic year under the umbrella of the Essex Junior Chess Assiciation - https://www.essexjuniorchess.co.uk/

Good Luck!
