We had a great CJCC turnout for the 7th Brentwood Junior Open on Sunday 5th March.

CJCC Chess Dates 2023

Sorry not to have updated our Blog. It is not down to any lack of chess activity (rather the reverse).

I expect one or two dates will change but I've booked through to the end of 2023.

Chelmsford Junior Chess Club will meet on the following Saturday mornings from 9.15am to 12.15pm in Christ Church in London Road (CM2 0AW).

18th March, 8th April, 15th April, 29th April, 13th May, 27th May, 10th June, 24th June, 8th July, 22nd July, 5th August, 19th August, 2nd September, 16th September, 30th September, 14th October, 28th October, 11th November, 25th November, 9th December, 16th December.

Plus Tuesdays 8th August and 22nd August

The younger club (school years 1 to 5) will meet from 9.15am to 10.45am. 

The older club (school year 6 and above) from 10.45am to 12.15pm.

There is some flexibility within the group ages for siblings etc.

The cost will be £5 per session attended, which will be a mix of playing and coaching.

Payment in cash on the day or online marked CJCC.

CJCC success in Colchester

It was great to see so many CJCC players playing the Essex Junior Chess Association tournament in Colchester on Sunday 29th January. 

It was even better to see them among the prizes.

CJCC will meet on the following Saturday mornings.

21st January, 28th January, 18th February, 25th February, 11th March, 18th March, 8th April, 15th April, 29th April, 13th May, 27th May.

We meet in Christ Church in London Road (CM2 0AW).

The younger club (School years 1 to 5) will meet from 9.15am to 10.45am.

The older club (School years 6+) from 10.45am to 12.15pm.

The groups are flexible to allow (for EG) siblings to stay together or stronger, younger players to challenge older ones.

Junior Tournaments 2023

What better time to start planning chess in 2023?

Online, we kick off with the First Sunday Brentwood Blitz (2+3) at 10am on New Year's Day

But I really wanted to share details of Rounds 3 and 4 of the Essex Junior Chess Association Grand Prix. 

These one-day junior tournaments are suitable for everyone and split into different age groups and levels.

CJCC Christmas Chess

 CJCC will meet twice around Christmas:

Saturday 17th December 9.15am - 12.15pm split into two groups by age.

9.15am - Year 1-5

10.45am - Year 6+

No charge but players are invited to come festivally attired and with a little something (nut-free) to share.

Saturday 31st December 2.15pm - 3.45pm. Booking essential.
