Junior Chess Tournaments

 I'm pleased to share details of two upcoming junior chess tournaments.

It is great to see another junior tournament in Essex. I'll be at Colchester helping out with some coaching. It should be a nice event and I'd encourage you to take part if you can.

No details beyond a date yet but there will be a tournament in Chelmsford at Moulsham Junior School hosted by the Essex Junior Chess Association on Sunday 26th June. Mark the date.

This Sunday (23rd), I'll be at Brentwood School helping run a She Plays To Win tournament for girls new to competitive chess. She Plays To Win

Good luck to CJCC players in these and other events. Everyone can represent CJCC and Essex in online competitions at www.lichess.org. Do ask me how if you are not sure.

Summer Holiday and next term chess dates

 Chelmsford Junior Chess Club will meet every Thursday morning through August. 

It will run in a similar way to our Saturday club with two sessions loosely split by age and with stronger, younger players able to stay on into the older group.

Please get in touch to book your places for August and also next term.

Chelmsford Junior Chess Club will meet on the following Saturday mornings from

9.15am to 12.15pm in Christ Church in London Road (CM2 0AW).

30th April, 28th May, 25th June, 23rd July.

The younger club (Years 2 to 5) will meet from 9.15am to 10.30am. 

The older club (Year 6 and above) from 10.45am to 12.15pm.

The times are fluid as the groups merge into each other.

The stronger, younger players are welcome to stay on with the older players..

Please note we will also meet on Thursday mornings through August.

August 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th 9.15am - 10.30 am and 10.30am to 12.

Numbers are limited and sessions will need to be pre-booked

at chelmsfordjuniorchess@gmail.com.

Covid precautions will be in place.

The cost will be £5 per session, which will be a mix of playing and coaching.

Payment in cash on the day or online marked CJCC.

Further details will be emailed out to those who book a session.
