A Couple of Photos and Brentwood School

We've had a busy and fun few weeks at the club. 

Below are a couple of random photos taken in 2025 when my iPad wasn't in use for ChessKid or Lichess.

I put together some chess photo boards at Brentwood School last week to showcase how much chess we do. We have the 9th Brentwood Junior Tournament on Sunday 2nd March.

Colchester Tournament 26th January 2025

I made it 30 players from Chelmsford Junior Chess Club taking part in the Colchester Junior Tournament at the University of Essex on Sunday 26th January.

There were some great results across the 4 sections (U9, U11, U14, U18). 

Congratulations to everyone who took part whatever their score. These tournaments are a great learning experience.

Here are 3 of our trophy winners together - Jacob, Digby and Joshua. Their trophy collections are growing!

The next junior tournament in Essex will be at Brentwood on Sunday 2nd March. This was the biggest junior tournament in Essex in 2024 with 140 players.

8 rounds at 10+5 split into 4 sections based on age and experience.

Christmas Photos

Club Details for New Members

We meet (most) Saturday mornings at Christ Church in London Road (CM2 0AW).

The younger club (School years 1 to 5) meets from 9.15am to 10.45am.

The older club (School years 6+) from 10.45am to 12.15pm.

The groups are flexible to allow (for EG) siblings to stay together or stronger, younger players to challenge older ones. 

The cost is £5 per session attended, which is a mix of playing and coaching.

Sat 21st Dec - Open. This will be our Christmas Celebration day complete with Christmas buffet.

Club Photos 16th November

It was good to reopen Chelmsford Junior Chess Club on 16th November after the She Plays To Win tournament the previous week.

It was the busiest ever older section. Too busy for photos but below are a few from the younger section.
