We had two guest appearances at the club this week. Essex
Chess Association President Ivor Smith came down with the Essex Chess
Championship trophy to present it to (now) 4 time winner Richard Pert. The
trophy is nearly 100 years old and made of solid silver so Ivor showed great
courage bringing it along.
Below is a picture of Ivor with Richard and Ivor surrounded
by children keen to know more about the trophy. Also a selection of our players
posing alongside it. Next week Ivor is hoping to bring it along again to show
the older players (Richard has decided it is safer with Ivor than in the same
house as his son Max).
Good luck to our players off to represent Essex in the
National U11 finals in Nottingham on Saturday.
